At EngAGE, we often talk about the transformative power of the arts. But it’s not just the students who are transformed; sometimes the Teaching Artists have had their own epiphanies. Here’s one example:
About 15 years ago, Lucy Rose Fischer’s husband had a heart attack. Fortunately, he recovered, but the experience caused both of them to rethink how they wanted to spend their time. Lucy had already had a career as a gerontologist for 25 years, doing research on aging. She decided, “I wanted to spend the rest of my life really focusing on art. So I began my career as an artist.
