News from Villa Anaheim: Exercise

In the Exercise Class at Villa Anaheim in Anaheim, California, safe exercise facilitates increased flexibility, strength, and endurance. Coordination and balance exercises help prevent falls and injury.  Instructor Nancy Goodhart reports: “The goal of this class is to affirm and celebrate successes. Participants were reminded of their progress, with regard to increased range of motion, improved balance, and improved coordination. They were congratulated for being in class, for moving their bodies, despite changes, impairments, and disabilities. The new fitness room is equipped with a treadmill, stationary bicycles, free weights, and a bench. Instruction on safe use of the equipment is continual, with some residents performing their personal exercise routine from station to station. Students are motivating themselves to do their circuit training. Ten minutes per station has been suggested. The group, as a whole, demonstrates increased mobility, balance, and flexibility. And they celebrate!”
