Artful Aging: Through the Lens of Miró

Miro - Denver ConferenceTo celebrate the work of Joan Miró, the Denver Art Museum is presenting a one-day symposium on Thursday, May 7 (9 am-4 pm) about creativity and aging, featuring inspirational talks and immersive workshops.

Tim Carpenter - Founder & Executive DirectorStart the day with an exclusive early hours visit to the exhibition, Joan Miró: Instinct & Imagination. The official program kicks off with a keynote presentation by Tim Carpenter, founder and executive director of EngAGE, who will share insights into the importance of creativity in aging. Following this, Gwen Chanzit, the DAM’s curator of modern art, will dive deep into the work of Joan Miró, discussing the artist’s process and inspiration, and revealing how he created some of his greatest works later in life.

After enjoying a catered lunch in the museum’s iconic Ponti Hall, immerse yourself in the arts by selecting from a menu of hands-on creative workshops and discussions throughout the afternoon. (Re)spark your creative juices by sampling from activities such as writing and sketching workshops in the galleries, behind-the-scenes tours and talks in the museum, or working with an artist in the DAM’s studio space. Miro: Instinct & Imagination is on display at DAM from Tuesday, April 7, 2015 through Sunday, June 28, 2015, throughout the museum complex. The exhibit is ticketed, with a member discount.  Purchase tickets online or call 720-913-0130.
