Older Americans Volunteer Services Award Recipients Honored

Many elders spend a tremendous amount of time volunteering their services and, once a year, several are chosen for their significant contributions to the community.  From the Burbank Times:

On Tuesday, May 8th, the Burbank City Council honored six recipients of the Older Americans Volunteer Services Award for their outstanding volunteer service. The recipients included: Julio Fernando de la Torriente for his service with Burbank Temporary Aid Center (BTAC); Marian Friedlob for her service as the Joslyn Adult Center’s bridge instructor; Louise Downey for her service to the Burbank Nutrition Program; Josefina Sauri for her service at the Don Tuttle Adult Center; Shari Ward for her service as the Joslyn Adult Center’s Hula dance instructor; and Peggy Ray, who has been selected as Burbank’s recipient of the County of Los Angeles Older Americans Outstanding Volunteer Service Award for her service with the Warner Brothers Retirees Club and the Mellowtones choral group. Ms. Ray will also be honored by the LA Board of Supervisors on Wednesday, May 23, 12:00 noon at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Music Center Grand Hall.
