News from The Grove

Highlights:

  • The Lunar New Year was celebrated by over fifty residents and staff with the finest food, flowers and song.
  • Talk Story storytelling class continues. Instructor Alicia writes: “We are preparing for our February Live Event.  My students are very excited.”  Noteworthy personal account of Korean resident Grace: “I had no idea how much I would love this time, or that I would become friends with my Vietnamese neighbors.  I never used to talk with them.  I am so grateful for EngAGE creating this community of friends.” Storytellers gathered for a potluck, the sharing of tastes and stories.
  • Nancy introduced the popular ESL Bingo game and Pictionary to participants and there has been continuing interest and enthusiasm.  Grandchildren enjoy helping their grandparent learn English words while at the same time playing the game.
  • KCET Television will be spotlighting Mr. James Gray, 92, in the upcoming program, “YOUR TURN TO CARE,” which will air locally on KCET and will be nationally syndicated through American Public Television.  Mr. Gray will be featured in the “super senior” segment of the production.  The executive producers have found his energy and vitality contagious! They followed him to the golf course and continued shooting his weekend activities.  Residents at The Grove Senior Apartments can look forward to a private showing of the production. Way to go Mr. Gray!! We will be watching!!!
