News from NoHo SAC: Mah jongg

We are very excited to offer weekly Mah jongg classes at North Hollywood Senior Arts Colony in North Hollywood, CA. Mah jongg is a tile-based game that originated in China during the Qing dynasty. It’s commonly played by four players and it’s popular in Eastern and South Eastern Asia. Similar to the Western card game rummy, Mah jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. It keeps the brain sharp and the players concentrated. Our residents have demonstrated a great deal of perseverance and ambition while playing Mah jongg, and our volunteer teacher, Virginia, is great at explaining how to play this complicated and challenging game. Here they all are developing strategic Mah jongg skills!
