SABRA WILLIAMS & CHRIS BINGLEY
THE ACTORS’ GANG PRISON PROJECT
Host: TIM CARPENTER

Chris Bingley and Sabra Williams

Eleven years ago, SABRA WILLIAMS, an actress at The Actors’ Gang, approached the company’s Artistic Director, Tim Robbins, about starting a prison program. And The Prison Project was born at the California Institute of Men in Chino.

The Actors Gang Prison Project now conducts weekly and seven-day-intensive workshops in eight California prisons, as well as Juvenile and Reentry programs.  In each workshop, 20-25 inmate participants work with Actors’ Gang teaching artists with the goal to unlock human potential.

Also on the show is CHRIS BINGLEY, a participant in the Prison Project when he was incarcerated at the California Institute of Men. Chris now serves as a teaching artist for the Actors’ Gang and works at The Anti-Recidivism Coalition. Listen in as Tim Carpenter talks to Sabra Williams and Chris Bingley of The Actors’ Gang Prison Project about crime, punishment, and what might set us free.
