The National Council on Aging wrote this blog post about senior loneliness with winter holidays in mind, but noted today that it applies to weekends full of cookouts, too. Good point! And we should remember what Memorial Day is about: even though it’s often celebrated with cookouts, it is commemorating the men and women who gave their lives fighting for us. Many older people have lost friends and loved ones who served, so this is a particularly significant day for them and a significant opportunity for others to make sure they’re not alone.  Learn more about the meaning of Memorial Day here.
