Tim Carpenter to Give Keynote at Arts in Eldercare Seminar in Singapore

arts-in-eldercare-seminar-2016Tim Carpenter, EngAGE Founder and Executive Director, has been invited by the National Arts Council of Singapore to give the keynote address at the Arts in Eldercare Seminar 2016 to be held on September 1st and 2nd in Singapore.

In addition to giving the keynote talk about bringing arts to senior communities, and the role of artists and their practice, Tim will also be discussing case studies of aging-in-place, facilitating a training session for artists, as well as meeting with leaders of various community arts organizations. This will be an exceptional international opportunity to share the EngAGE approach to creative aging.

The National Arts Council is Singapore’s national body for developing the Arts and is a statutory board under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. The Arts in Eldercare Seminar is an annual platform bringing together social and healthcare practitioners, aged care policymakers, and artists, to explore how the arts can engage and empower the elderly for creative aging.

NAC has also initiated the Silver Arts Festival, an annual month-long national platform in September that advocates the meaningful possibilities seniors have in the arts. While not working towards developing seniors into practicing artists themselves, the NAC believes that engaging their creativity can enable active and meaningful aging.
