Residents from NoHo SAC, BSAC, and the public turned out to enjoy the artwork of Walter Hurlburt at the opening night reception for his solo show at North Hollywood Senior Arts Colony. Walter had a thirty year career as a sign painter and for seven years worked as a technical illustrator for Lockheed Corporation. He began painting in oils in 1995 and likes to paint in a realistic manner. He paints portraits, figures, and landscapes, and recently a series of paintings of grain elevators came from his fascination with those structures.
Walter’s paintings are in private collections in California, Arizona, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. He is a member of the Valley Artists Guild, The San Fernando Art Club, The Burbank Art Association, and the Fine Arts Federation of Burbank. He was a featured artist in the recent “It’s Never Too Late to Create!” art exhibit at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena.
Walter is a beloved artist at Burbank Senior Artists Colony and brought many of his friends and neighbors from the community to the reception. In addition to enjoying the art, everyone also loved the snacks from Porto’s and live music by Doug MacDonald.
