ADAM DAVIS talks with host CYNTHIA FRIEDLOB + BOBBEE ZENO KWANZAA REWIND (2011)

Adam DavisADAM DAVIS became Managing Director of Productions for the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in the spring of 2006. In that capacity he serves as producer of the annual three-hour Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center, and of the live broadcast of that show on PBS So Cal. He also directs a year-round music program that funds more than 60 free concerts in public sites each year. In November 2006, he took on an additional role with the Arts Commission assuming the post of Managing Director of the John Anson Ford Theatres, where he oversees an eclectic summer season of culturally diverse music, dance, theater, film and family events. A graduate of Principia College with a degree in theater, Adam Davis previously held managerial positions at the San Diego Repertory Theatre, the La Jolla Playhouse and the Pepperdine University theaters.

UPDATED INFORMATION FOR 2014: Kwanzaa Dance Concerts Dec. 27 & 28 — Lula Washington Dance Theatre

Kwanzaa - Lula WashingtonPraised by dance critics as “one of the best dance shows in Los Angeles,” Lula Washington Dance Theatre is presenting its annual Kwanzaa concerts on Saturday, Dec. 27 and Sunday, Dec. 28 at its Dance Studio Theater, 3773 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016.

The Kwanzaa Festival is a non-religious celebration of African-American cultural roots. It is a community and family coming together. It features students from the LWDT School, along with professional dancers from the LWDT national touring company.

The dancers will perform African dance, modern dance, and ballet. This year’s Kwanzaa celebration will run three performances: Saturday, Dec. 27 at 2 pm and 7 pm; and Sunday, Dec. 28 at 3pm. Tickets are on sale on the website (www.lulawashington.org), and in person at the LWDT Dance School Mon – Saturday from 10 am until 7 pm. To purchase by credit card over the phone call: 323-292-5852. Prices are: $25 for general audience; $20 for students, seniors, and groups of 10 or more; and $10 for children willing to sit on floor mats.
