Saturday, 8/23 at 8 AM PT: Peter G. Lancellotti and Yvonne Beatty talk with host Cynthia Friedlob

Both of our guests have made radical changes in their professional lives, leaving their original careers to move on to something completely different for their encore careers. Peter Lancellotti spent 20 years in the telecommunications industry, then left it to get a degree in Gerontology and launch a senior health care service primarily for the LGBT community. Yvonne Beatty spent 28 years in nursing and public health, then went back to college for a master’s degree in fine art and a career as an artist. The enthusiasm both of our guests have for their current work is evidence of just how satisfying an encore career can be.

Peter Lancellotti

While serving as a University of Southern California gerontologist, PETER LANCELLOTTI decided to put his clinical research on aging into practice by launching a Seniors Helping Seniors franchise, a non-medical home care service matching seniors seeking employment with seniors who need help to continue living independently in their own homes. Non-medical services provided include such things as cooking, light housekeeping, yard work, pet walking, shopping, transportation, small repairs, and companionship. Peter’s franchise, based in West L.A., focuses primarily, but not exclusively, on serving the LGBT senior community, a group that has special needs and is currently underserved.
