Bonny celebrates her winning presentation of the poem.

Bonny celebrates her winning presentation of the “First Responders” poem with Nate Hall, EngAGE Regional Programs Director and Food Program Coordinator (L.A.).

From Robin Hart, EngAGE Regional Programs Director:

The video and poem, “First Responders,” were created by the students of Jo McLachlan’s comedy improv group, “Do You Like To Laugh,” held at the Jasmine at Founders Village in Fountain Valley. They wanted to pay homage to police and firefighters who are always there when we need them. The women in the class are Bonny (she’s actually from Villa Anaheim and drives with Jo to the Jasmine to attend the group), Sharon, Peggy, Myraim, and Rose.

The group intended to present their work at the EngAGE Senior Olympics, but the only two who could attend were Bonny and Jo. Undaunted, Bonny read the poem in the talent competition and took home a runner-up medal for the Jasmine group! Well done, ladies.

And thanks to Helene Weinberg, Program Manager for the Long Beach Senior Arts Colony, for creating this video that captures the spirit of the 2013 EngAGE Senior Olympics event.
